McDermott: Needing Jesus-like forgiveness

So much has gone on at our club in the last few days its hard to keep up, Friday night was exhausting and that was only on Twitter. As the dust temporarily settles a little this Sunday (no doubt to be kicked up massively later tonight / tomorrow morning) and off the back of a rebel rousing 5- win over Huddersfield where are we?

For as good a look at the weeks events I recommend Henry Winters piece in the Telegraph http://www.telegraph.co.uk Personally can I thank twitterites @PhilHayYEP especially for fantastic reporting on this debacle but also @CockerDave @YO8Whites for their contributions.

For McDermotts sacking much suspicion rests on Cellino understandably, indeed the letter drafted but either not sent or received on company letterhead is signed by him. This letter is in the hands of 3rd parties so can we please get this "leaked" onto twitter so we can all be in no doubt. But it appears he was more than ably encouraged by certain sections within GFH. It is now documented how at half time in the Sheff Weds game (I cant really say match) they wanted him gone. The group were over ruled and told to give him more time. This seems to have been instigated by a certain Hisham Alrayes, an otherwise annonymous member of the board. https://twitter.com/HishamAlrayes

No doubt motivated by the £4m payment due in mid feb and the expected £11m losses due to announce, they expected more from their manager and this team and lost patience. This showed the total lack of understanding about football, 9 months in, strangled by a lack of real investment, limping from month to month what could they honestly expect?

Its ironic that as Leeds fans we are often not the most patient but what we do recognise and welcome is honest endeavor, we appreciate genuine people. The players we remember most are the ones who always gave 100%, showed pride in the shirt, showed loyalty. Loyalty has no place in the boardroom. But in McDermott  we see the human qualities that we crave.. a man without ego, a man who cares for Leeds, a man who Phil Hay at the YEP tell us never sought favours from the press or soft treatment.

With Enterprise Insurance and Flamingoland having withdrawn their sponsorship over the treatment of McDermott financial problems will be compunded. These sponsorship's are paid up front an in themselves, withdrawal may not create an immediate hole. But the understanding that "bringing the club into disrepute and therefore themselves by association" clauses could be brought into play which could trigger refunds would cause severe problems.

This just heightens the haste, the almost indecent haste to get money in. Attention on Friday turned to Mike Farnan and his Together Leeds consortium. Here is a man without convictions and seems affable with his talk of Yorkshire and Leeds people. The sentiment might be admirable, the cash though apparently is thought to be insufficient hence no seat at the table.

Much then rests on Brian McDermott. Still our manager according to Leeds. Expected at training Monday according to hat trick hero Ross McCormack. Nor present on the bench nor in the ground - on legal advice. Sacked by persons without authority apparently. Sacked by a phone call from a legal bod. On whose say so, we do deserve to know. Smart money would be on a combo of Alrayes and Cellino.

In stereotypical fashion, Cellino was in full retreat mode come Saturday night, digging a hole so big a JCB was reportedly joining on loan “I want the Coach back and have been trying to call him,” said Cellino. “I don’t mind this Coach. How could I sack anyone anyway? I need the approval of the Football League before I own the club" Casually ignoring the fact that he attempted to bring in four players on Friday and and signed the letter. In fact the player he thought he had and was initially announced as having joined it turns out now has not. Because the paperwork bore the signature of someone STILL not entitled to do so.

On Festa? No he wasnt going to be my manager... “Festa was not here to coach the club, just to make the translation with the players. Festa has never run a club before. I have never had him coach a team in Italy before, so why would I want him to coach a major club like Leeds?” Ignoring the fact that he had tried to shoehorn him onto the bench, had interfered with training and was due to take the team on Saturday, managed Lumazanne and had managerial roles at Cagliari with Cellino.

So can the man without ego show forgiveness on a level not seen since Jesus had a word with Judas. Cellino on McDermott, 24 hours earlier..."In the end we didn't have any choice-he did everything to get fired. He started arguments with everyone and made it impossible.“

Is there a way back. every bone in my body hopes so, in Brian we trust. Logically why would he, the understanding he shares with the fans isnt enough when he cant trust GFH and cant trust Cellino. Would you go back or would you sue their arses off?
